Properties

The formulation of Portland Cement is designated my the ASTM C150 specification and is divided into types:

• Type II cement is designed to generate less heat during hydration. Type II cement is a general purpose cement, and the majority of Portland cement sold in North America meets this specification.
• Type V cement is specifically designed for high sulfate resistance. The cement is formulated to increase concrete’s durability with high sulfate content soils, aggregates and groundwater. High sulfate soils are common to the Western US.

Type II/V cement designation indicates the cement complies with both the Type II and Type V specifications of ASTM C150.

Applications

Type II/V is a common structural cement used in Ready mix concrete, pavements, foundations, sidewalks, walkways, patios, swimming pool decks, reinforced concrete buildings, bridges, precast & prestressed concrete, railway structures, tanks, reservoirs, culverts, water pipe and masonry units.
